JoAnn Adinolfi is theillustrator and writer of many books for young readers. She was born on StatenIsland in New York. When she was little diapers still had pins. Her family was big and Italian and filled with lots of love and kissesand incredibly delicious food.
She speaks fluent Germanand okay Italian and when she is not busy digging in her garden, travelling,kayaking, African dancing, dundun drumming, cooking, cleaning, raking leaves,painting walls, shoveling snow and brushing her teeth, she is happily in herstudio making books for children.

About the Author
Eileen Spinelli is the author of many books for young readers, including The Perfect Thanksgiving and In My New Yellow Shirt, which was a Bank Street College of Education Best Book. She lives in Pennsylvania with author Jerry Spinelli. Sometimes Eileen hides the Christmas cookies from Jerry so well she doesn't find them until Valentine's Day.
JoAnn Adinolfi has illustrated twenty-five books for young readers, including Halloween Hoots and Howls, The Perfect Thanksgiving, and Hippopotamus Stew. Born and raised on Staten Island in New York City, she now lives in New Hampshire with her family.

A nice Christmas read.

This book is pretty straightforward. It compares the different ways that two families celebrate Christmas. I enjoyed looking at the differences between the two families. The way the two families come together at the end is a pleasant reminder that we can find things in common with each other if we make the effort. There is some humor mixed in (one of the grandmother's cookies breaking someone's toe).
The story is written in rhyme that flows fairly well which makes the book good as a read-a-loud. The illustrations are colorful and pleasing. I liked the way the collage aspects of the illustrations gave them texture (I like texture). Overall, a very friendly, pleasing read.

Fun Christmas story!

What a fun book! This is a favorite with our family every Christmas season. After reading we always have a great discussion about the story's moral; no matter how your family celebrates the holiday, being together with those you love is what counts. The Bright and cheery mixed media illustrations have inspired my kids to make their own holiday collages. Always a great activity for a wintry afternoon. Over all this book is a great holiday find!
