Mobile eating

The food described in this book is not high fancy cuisine, but it sure is good and it makes you want to chow down immediately. There are recipes in here from food trucks in North America and the U.K. although most seem to be centered on the west coast - California and Washington State. There is information at the end of the book in alphabetical order by food truck name with web, Facebook and twitter addresses. There really should have been a division by state to make it easier to locate them. An index is included by the main ingredient.
The recipes are divided into; mobile snacks, burgers, dogs, and slices, sandwiches, tacos, wraps and cones, soups, noodles and saucy things, meals and sweets. Most of the recipes have large colour photos. Many are time consuming to make because of special sauces and mayonnaises, prep time - chopping and such, but not that difficult to make otherwise.
There are many good, interesting and varied recipes in here. The ones our family has enjoyed are examples of the variety: Saigon shrimp ceviche, bourbon-mango pulled pork sandwich, sockeye salmon with succotash, S.M.O.G. pie (steak, mushroom, onion and gruyere), and maple bacon cupcakes.
If you want some different recipes or you are a fan of food trucks this book is for you. You might even find your favorite in here. We were elated to find S.M.O. G. pie.

Stop what you're doing and buy this book!

I kind of ordered this book by mistake but i'm so glad I did. It was the best surprise I can remember for a long long time. This book is full of melty, creamy, disgusting goodness that you would expect from a food truck. All of the recipes are innovative and really amazing updates to some of your fav classics. This book is so necessary... Let me just say that my future kids are going to have the most awesome lunches EVER!!!

A Few Keeper Recipes

When the old adage "you can't judge a book by its cover" is used, there are occasions when that's true but in the case of EAT ST., this is a case when it's a falsehood. You can judge the book by its cover because just the subline of "Recipes from the tastiest, messiest and most irresistible food trucks" pretty much sums up the content of this four-star rated book.
The recipes begin on page four with "The Farrah," consisting of eight ingredients from Alberta Canada's "Fries & Dolls" food truck. Now I don't quite have any pink Himalayan sea salt in the house the combination of fresh-cut fries dusted with a delicious combination of herbs and chunks of garlic (and the stunning accompanying photograph) most definitely grabbed my attention. As long as I don't have to fly to the Himalayans for the sea salt, I should be alright substituting the ingredient. This recipe is my top pick for "most likely to ward off vampires."
The recipes and photos span 274 pages making this a decent collection of tasty sounding and looking entrees, tacos, pizza flavors, sandwiches/burgers, kabobs, desserts and so forth. But not all of the recipes would be on my list of must try recipes. When you get to the Tuna Tataki Tacos, Beef Heart Skewers, Beet Home Fries or the Carrot Cake Pierogi, I think I'll pass on making them although each reader may find a unique and cherished recipe for hir or her own tastes, likes and dislikes.
But recipes like the Jambalaya, Gumbo, Turkey Caesar Sandwich, 7th Inning Stretch (with cracker jacks on the spicy hotdogs served on naan flatbread), and the Tripple Cream Brie Melt Sandwich have me intrigued enough to buy this cookbook which righ now I am previewing from the library. When I find a cookbook like this where I find more than 10-15 recipes I consider the book to be a "keeper" and this may just be in my collection soon.
Thumbs up to the cookbook and author James Cunningham for this expose of the food truck world and unique enough recipes that aren't elegant fine dining meals or snacks but worthy of four stars in this Amazon book review.
I would like to see the nutritional contents of the recipes in the book. Yeah, Right ... some things are better left unseen. (grin)
